SEAd Vs Stardom (SEAdLINNNG Shin-Kiba Nights 10/02/2021)

This was in essence a build up match for Momo Vs Takahashi which was scheduled for Stardoms large show at the nippon budokon. This match right here did more for the feud than stardom ever did…..BUT ANYWAY this right here rules.
I love the how the setup is stacked in Takahashi’s favor. She is on home turf (she owns SEAdLINNNG), and teaming with Arisa Nakajima. Her long time rival who she currently holds the tag straps with. Both women are long time veterans of Joshi, battle hardened, experienced and knows eachother inside and out.
Momo on the other hand is in enemy territory and teaming with Saya Ida. Someone she dosen’t really have experience with, them being in different stables (Momo is Queens Quest but Ida is Stars). Ida is also a Rookie, she had only been wrestling for 2 years at this stage. Needless to say Momo was at a disadvantage going into this. Which she tries to rectify by jumping the Beyond the Sea tag champs at the start.
This helps the match start hot, getting straight to the exchanges between Momo and Takahashi. Their exchanges throughout the match were fantastic. I especially enjoyed the B driver exchange in the middle.Nanae had started using the move to annoy Momo (again,SEAd did much more for this feud than Stardom) so when Nanae hit hers only for Momo to kick out at one to immediately hit hers it was a great little moment that rewarded you for paying attention….Maybe should have saved that for the single match. I even like when Nanae hit the move on Saya that Momo immediately made her pay for it.
Saya Ida was the back bone of this match. She was incredibly sympathetic whilst being bullied by the much more experanced SEAd wrestlers. When Ida got shine in the dying minutes of this match i was LIVING FOR IT. Ida has always had glimpses of potential, but kind of felt the least special out of her crop of Stardom rookies. Saya Kamatani filled a niche stardom didn’t have as a high flyer and Maika was the most technically sound. She realised her potential here, she’s incredibly easy to root for and showed it.
I felt especially sorry Saya when Arisa Nakajima was the legal competitor. She just attacked Ida with such glee, it’s like she was born to do exactly that. Here exchanges with momo were great to. She had the least to prove but still put the work in.
This wound up being far better than the singles match, if you’re a Stardom fan and you missed this on the first go around i highly recommend you go back to catch it.
